National Science Day celebrated at Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala

National Science Day was celebrated at Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala by the Department of Physics and the Biological Society of to commemorate the discovery of Raman Effect by Sir C.V.Raman. A poster making competition and Physics Quiz was organized by the Department of Physics while the Biological Society organized Biology Quiz, Caption contest and Scientific paper reading competition for the students of B.Sc Medical, Non Medical, Computer Sciences and Biotechnology.
Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar in his address encouraged the students to cultivate the quality of curiosity and to enrich their personality by focussing on self learning. He recognized the role of science teachers in opening the vistas of active learning in the students and appreciated their efforts in organizing the event.
In the poster making competition, 24 students participated; Parsansa Devi of B.Sc-II stood first, Mohit Goyal of B.Sc.-III bagged the second position, Abhinav Kaushal and Abhinandan of B.Sc.-III won the third position. For the Physics Quiz competition 20 teams participated and five teams were shortlisted for the final round. Rupali and Jaffica of B.Sc-II stood first, Anshika and Neelam of B.Sc.-I won the second prize while Rahul and Rittik of B.Sc.-II stood third.
In the Biology Quiz competition 31 students participated for the screening round out of which 12 were selected for the final round. The team of Shivani (B.Sc.-II), Sukhmanpreet Singh (B.Sc.-I) and Gaganpreet Kaur (B.Sc.-II) won the first position. Second position was bagged by the team comprising Bhavisha Jain (B.Sc.-II), Parth Thapa (B.Sc.-III) and Pallvi Sharma (B.Sc.-I). In the caption contest 28 students participated, Shivani Goyal (B.Sc.-II) bagged the first position, Parth thapa (B.Sc.-III) won the second position and Jasleen Kaur (B.Sc.-I) bagged the third position. The topics for the scientific paper reading contest were Novel Corona Virus, Forest Fires, India and its Space Program and Artificial Inelligence. 16 students participated in this competition, Shivani Goyal (B.Sc.-II) won the first position, Bhavisha Jain (B.Sc.-II) bagged the second position and third position was bagged by Aryan Chugh (B.Sc.-II).
Dr. Ashwani Sharma, Dr.Kuldeep Kumar and Dr. Manish Sharma adjudged the winners of various competitions. The faculty of Department of Physics, Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology and Food and Nutrition were present on this occasion.
